One of the past meetings that
we have held at the Sedgwick Co.
Courthouse has shown me that our
problem is not one that is taken
lightly. Partipation on any level
and aS we ali know 5.N.U.6. i5 a
reality. AS we members of various
member clubs join in let us keep
in Mind our main responsibility:

PART IPAT ION!

As noted in a column of BoSTUG
they aiso are having difficulty,
in partipation with the exception
of OL users. Does this sound like
us in our very own club?

Their is the familiar signs; a
contest for a design of a cover,
and a masthead for the newstetter.
And as the Editor notes “Response
was distinguished by the LACK OF
A SINGLE ENTRY.”

Also the noted was the greatly
used item of the “ SURVEY FORM “
to gather responsive members and
getting Info on “ THEIR NEEDS “.
This drew 16 repiies; six out of
State. The editors statement was
“The diversity of responses was
to great to draw and conclusions.”

If any reat conclusions can be
drawn it is that membership is on
a decline of aS Stated their is
to much varied interest, ie Z 88
GL, T75 2068, T75 1588, T/S 1000
ZX-81, ZX-88 support is necessary
but to extend one’s scope is fut
ile on “ Per -Club “ can handie
just so much; of support 50 much
at one time!!

But support is a two-way street
one is interdependent of the other
support needs both sides wanting
to heip and being able to help.

Also congradulations to Joyce
Blaho on her new job as Liason-
Newsletter Coordinator of BoSTUG

She left a few hints on their;
newletter to us about the agree-
ment to exchange newsietters. No
we haven't forgotten about you!!
Publishing the newsletter is as;
you know not a well paying job!!

One of the objectives of SNUG,
is the PDL (PUBLIC DOMAIN LIBRARY)
in the past we have voted to get
into the exchange of newsletters
the next step is the exchange of
PDL’s. And in the newsletters we
have received many have the item
Or items we would Like to have.

Several users groups have PDL’s
that are not what we desire. We,
as a users group have a small if
meager PDL. Most of our pom’s of
course were developed by members
of our club. At tops we haye 18-
15 programs.

One of the Prime Club's PDL‘S
that we are interested in is from
TIMELINEZ from the bay area. But
the problem is the method mostly
used here is either cassette of
RERCO with the LARKEN Cartridge.
Which is not exactly compatable,
with them. They have a long List
of methods and are gaining more,
all of the time.

Speaking of READER SURVEY‘s in
TOM at least my Last one SEPT/OCT
"88. You can see the varied type
of interests listed, Hardware is
keeping up with software 10 items
each.

One item that I have just come
across in my mind is has TDM had
a cross reference to articles in
an end of year issue to find the
beginning af eñd of articles?

If he hasnt thought about it,
would it be possible to include,
such a page to heip out. Well MR
Tim Woods please correct me if I
am wrong?

As a lot of folks know LEMKE
Software Development is located,
in Wichita, Kansas 2144 White Oak
67207. And on several previous,
Occasions we have talked about,
his programs listed in TDM and he
and Tim Uoods see no problems in
using his Programs in the PDL if
we use in a REM line the issue,
Month and Year and of course VOL
and NO Listing where it was tupe
in plus telling about documents,
and of the page they are listed
on to help any person receiving
the program from any PDL Later.

Yell Mr. Tim Uoods in the past
months the few members of the UG
have wondered about our subscript
ion to your fine magazine. One in
Particular has yet to receive any
issues at all. I know that their
are problems plus, that’s Lifes,
most greatest teacher. Can you,
please inform us as a group as of
when and of if the Issue of NOV,
DEC ‘88 VOL.4 NO.7 will be sent
to several persons in the KAT/S,
Users group. I received mine last
issue Vol.4 No. 6 after much ado
about nothing. I know that I'am
making some thing out of nothing
If have affended you in any way
please inform us of our offense,
and we will appolize to you? But
if this is one of lifes Lletdowns
we will take it in stride. Öne of
the persons that called you was,
me that taiked about the possible
inclusion of a vendor failure to
comply listing in your magazine,
can you please try to inform our
fellow enthusiasts of the exodus
of a vendor. Please incorporate,
this into the contents Listing.

On one of the previous issues,
MASS STORAGE was discussed. But
as most persons know “AéJU" Micro
drive was not Listed. Does this,
mean it is out of the picture as
I know it? You can tist everyone
Of the great names in the journal
AERCO, LARKEN, ZeEBRA/TINEX FOD
ROTRONICS UAFRDRIVE. But where??
If it iS an orphan please inform
me to were to bury it? Possibly
I just haven’t been paying close
enough attention to the trend. I
Should buy myself a MAC-Plus with
1-MEGABYTE RAM and a 2@MEG HARD-
DISK, with a program that my son
can run in his Graphic Arts class
and a Laser printer, but loyal I
am and I like the programs that,
Stan Lemke produces. Plus unique
properties this T/5 2065 has and
I just can’t seem to drop it.

Perhaps the end of this column
iS iN Sight and perhaps so is the
end of the AJ MICRODRIVE method
but if I don’t support the means
or the methods this group and or
computer enthuasist’s will vanish
off the face of this earth.

Here are a couple of quick tips
to hetp add variety to your DTP
column apperance.

How to “darken your print”.
It’s pretty easy to switch to a
“BOLD” font when you want to add
emphasis to your text, but what
Can you do for graphics that are
a little too light when you print
your column?

Ueit, actuality this Little “Tip*
can be usea to highlight as much
or as little of ANY column as is
desired. Here if what you do:

1> Save your coiumn...

2> Bank-Switch to the alternate
column... tect "X"!

3> Load in your coiumn.

Now your column exists in both
the standard and dock RAM.

4) In either column, tocate as
@uch (or as little? of the
column As you wish to darken
and with the “SHIFT” left or
right key, move each segment
left of right 1 pixel.

5> Select “SAVE”, then “BREAK”
the program. LOAD the BANK-
SUITCHING “HERGE” code from
the SPRING Pixel Print Press
and RANDOMIZE USR 23296: RUN

6> Scroll thru your column and
admire the effects!

The Timex Sinclair Public Domain
Library is now a reality.
Thanks to the responses recieved
since the T/S Fest in Seattle, the
Library has been started.

The purpose of the Library is
to collect, catalog and distribute
public domain software. Ve maybe
twisting the meaning of “PUBLIC
DOMAIN". but we are using it here
to refer to programs that people
have written and submitted to a
User Group newsletters, books ,or
Magazines or directiu to the us,
the Library. The Following except
-iuns apply:

1)If the author offered to send
the reader a copy of the program
(sifor a fee.

2)If the author stated in the his
article of program listing the
program was copyrighted or not
public domain.

J If the book of magazine is still
being published and written per-
Mission has not been granted by
the author andor publisher.

Under these conditions the
Library is unable to accept the
program. At this time the Library
is accepting programs under these
exceptions. And if more info is,
